Ajit Pawar: Appoint Nodal Officer for coordination with hospitals

Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has given orders to appoint Nodal Officer to coordinate with private hospitals amid the COVID-19 pandemic

Pune: Private hospitals denying treatment to patients during the coronavirus pandemic is a serious issue. Government officials should take serious action against such erring private hospitals and a nodal officer should be appointed for coordinating with the private hospitals. Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has given these orders in a review meeting that took place at the Council Hall on Saturday.

Pawar said, "Containing the spread of coronavirus and restarting the economic activities in the city are the challenges before us. For effective implementation of corona-prevention measures, citizens should follow discipline. Citizens are flouting guidelines at a lot of places and the civic administration should take action against such persons."

"Lockdown has affected businesses in several sectors. Government is taking efforts to restart the economy and support small businesses. Life should become normal soon with businesses made operational and giving employment opportunity to all those who are vulnerable. Civic officials should keep all these things in mind and plan accordingly," Pawar added.

STUDENTS SAFETY FIRST

"The government will soon take a decision on the reopening of schools but by keeping students safety on top priority and only with standard operating protocols. We are trying to save academic year loss and any decision we take will be in the interest of all students," said Ajit Pawar.

MORE STAFF FOR SASSOON

"Any proposal regarding additional manpower and other resources for Sassoon Hospital stuck at the Secretariat level will be approved immediately. The government will also make additional funds available for Sassoon hospital," Pawar said. Swab testing capacity, condition of positive patients, ward-wise patient count, containment zone-wise situation, institutional quarantine capacity, checkups for senior citizens, precautions to be taken before and after reopening of schools and other issues were also discussed in the meeting, he added.
