PUNE: Due to a decrease in the temperature and low visibility caused due to fog, all flights from Pune to Delhi, Kolkata, Lucknow, Chandigarh and other parts of north India have been affected. Most of the airlines are sending alert messages to fliers to check their flight update before leaving for the airport.
According to the sources at Pune airport, from the past two days, the departing flights are delayed as the flights are not arriving on time. The reason behind the delay is the low visibility in north India due to an increase in fog.?
The SpiceJet used social media to alert passengers. ?Poor visibility is expected during morning hours at the following sectors: Delhi, Amritsar, Patna, Varanasi and Hyderabad. We request all our passengers to check their updated flight status via http://spicejet.com before leaving for the airport,? SpiceJet tweeted.
Jet Airways also tweeted, ?Due to adverse weather conditions (fog) at #Delhi and #Raipur, few of our flights have been affected.?
On Friday, as many as nine flights were diverted and around 100 flights were cancelled due to fog at New Delhi International Airport. "The visibility on the runway was worst at 50 metres between 7 am and 9 am when nine flights were diverted on Friday. The diversions were due to reasons like the aircraft or pilot not being CAT compliant. Others include flights low on fuel or congestion due to poor visibility," said officials of the Delhi airport.
Delhi airport is CAT-IIIB compliant, where flights can land in visibility as low as 50 metres. As per the DGCA norms, airlines are required to deploy only CAT-IIIB compliant planes as well as trained crew for operations in dense fog during winter.
Jatin Prasad, a passenger for Delhi bound flight, said, "?I received a message from the airline which I had booked for travel. The message helped me not to leave for Pune airport soon."?
