African national creates chaos on Law College Road, arrested

PUNE: It seemed a normal evening for commuters on Law College Road on Friday until they saw an African national in a nude state acting waywardly on the stretch ranging from NFAI to Nal Stop signal. The unruly behavior of Bodrik, a student from Sinhgad College created fear among the commuters, which forced some locals to overpower him and tie him to a pole near the Nal Stop signal.

In a video accessed by Sakal Times, the African was seen on the top of a moving car, making indecent postures. He was seen jumping on the road and crying out loud. He entered a PMPML bus which created fear among the passengers and forced some lady passengers to deboard the bus.

Mahesh Gaikwad, a witness of the incident said, “I was standing at the gate of our showroom and saw this foreign national running on the road. He was not wearing anything and was jumping, and then he started climbing the cars that had stopped at the signal as well as moving cars. He entered an autorickshaw, after which the couple inside the autorickshaw ran away; they were so scared that even after the lady fell down, the man dragged her till they were at a safe distance. The African sat inside the autorickshaw and didn’t come out for a long time.”

Gaikwad said the African then boarded a bus and started shouting, after which many of the passengers ran away from the bus.  He said, “The guy was huge and seemed to be under the influence of drugs. Nobody was going near him.”

Malkappa Talkeri, another witness said, “He created  disruption on the road, traffic got jammed, people were running here and there, scared. The entire drama ran for more than an hour after which some people got together and managed to overpower him. They tied him to a pole and informed the police.”

Police officials from Deccan police station rushed to the spot and took the African to Sassoon Hospital where he was admitted.

Ajay Kadam, Police Inspector, Deccan Police Station, said, “There is no information on the identity of the foreigner or from where he suddenly appeared. He seems to be high on drugs. We have admitted him to the hospital and will get to know the details once the influence of the drugs gets over. We have not registered any case against him till now.”
