Pune: A first of its kind aero modelling show was held at Vishwashanti Gurukul in Alandi on Sunday.
The event was inaugurated by renowned Aero Modeler Sadanand Kale, MIT WPU Executive President Rahul Karad, Sanskrit scholar Pandit Vasant Gadgil, Vishwashanti Gurukul, Alandi, principal Prof Ashok Jain, Executive Director of Vishwaraj Hospital Dr Aditi Karad, businessman,Haribhai Shah, Manoj Wadekar, Dilip Dalal and Urmila Vishwanath Karad.
Aero modelling needs the support of the government to produce better pilots for our country.
“In India, there is a need for the government to provide exclusive aero modelling stadia and aero modelling clubs should be started in every city through government’s educational institutions,” said Kale.
Kale said the aviation sector in India holds great promise for students to take it up as a lucrative career, both in the public and private sectors.
“Those students, who get exposed to aero modelling in their formative years, stand a great chance to become super pilots and aero engineers in the future.
Aero modelling is treated as a passionate hobby in countries like Americas, Germany, Japan, France, Russia, etc, and they are witness to many competitions, which test students and their abilities,” said Kale.
Various stunts were performed during the show, which was witnessed by hundreds of people gathered.
Several gliders, flying saucers, miniature airplanes, helicopters took flight and performed daring stunts at the venue, much to the amazement of the audience.
