ACB nabs city advocate for accepting bribe of Rs 1.7 cr

PUNE: A city-based lawyer was nabbed by officials of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 1.7 crore on Wednesday. The advocate, Rohit Dattatreya Shende (27), is a resident of Swami Vivekanand Society in Sahakar Nagar.

As per information given by officials of ACB, the advocate had demanded a bribe of Rs 2 crore from the complainant for getting him some important land documents and winning a land dispute case for him. 

After the complaint filed by the complainant, ACB officials laid a trap and handed over Rs 5 lakh in real notes and Rs 1.65 crore in fake notes which was accepted by the advocate. Following the incident, the Bund Garden police were in the process of filing a case against the advocate. 

ACB officials are also investigating the involvement of government officials in the case.
