About 1L 7/12 docus available with e-sign

Pune: Of the 10 lakh 7/12 extracts which are now available online in Pune district, approximately 1 lakh such documents can now be downloaded with digital signatures on them. The process was started in March this year in Mulshi, Maval and Khed talukas and till May 31, the Land Records department has provided a digital signature on more than one lakh 7/12 extracts.

While uploading the document online, 24 parameters are being checked so that there are no errors in the document and then once it carries digital signature of collectorate it becomes more authentic. Pune district has over 14 lakh 7/12 extracts to be uploaded online and the State government is planning to finish the entire work of uploading these documents and providing digital signatures on them before August. The digitisation of revenue documents means every land ownership document is available on State government’s server and it can be accessed from any corner of the country. This will bypass the village-level revenue officer (talathi) who so far was the only authority to issue 7/12 extracts. The 7/12 extract is a crucial piece of document for the establishment of ownership of a piece of land.

The extract is extensively used by farmers, for loan agreements, crop survey and for availing government facilities.

Speaking on the slow progress of work, an official from Land Records department said that various technical issues including the Internet speed, lack of manpower, server breakdown led to the slow progress of work and various deadlines set by the State government were missed. “We are more focused on flawless work and this is also one of the reasons for the delay,” added the official.
