Ab-Normal Home children organise car exhibition

PUNE: In a bid to boost talent and confidence in its children, Ab-Normal Home, a development centre for special children in Kothrud, organised an exhibition of 350 to 400 car models on Sunday.

Titled ‘World of Cars’, the exhibition consisted of a variety of cars, consisting of racing cars, hyper sport and concept cars. A highlight of the exhibition was that all these cars came from the collection of 45 students at Ab-Normal Home and the students also coordinated the exhibition, narrating to the visitors all information about the displayed cars.

Speaking about the concept of the exhibition, Kishori Pathak, Director, Ab-Normal Home said, “One day, one of the students brought all his cars, which were 100 to 125 to the home. While he showed us all his precious cars, we realised that he knew a lot about them. Thus, we thought that the love for cars that many of our students possessed and their talent should reach the people, and we decided to conduct the exhibition.”

With the help of one of the educators at the home, Shubham Gaikwad, students started bringing the concept into reality. The racing tracks, showrooms and stadiums that were used to display the cars in the exhibition were made by the students.

Shreyas, who has been a student at the Home for six years, said, “We enjoyed coordinating the exhibition a lot. It was so much fun to explain to people about all our cars and answer their questions.” Another student, Omkar, said, “I am learning at the home for the past three years. Apart from the car exhibition, we had set up stalls of several other things made by us. At Ab-Normal Home, we learn a lot about our day-to-day things in a fun way, and that’s why we all love to come here.”
