7 new UCL machines roped in to update Aadhaar info

PUNE: Officials involved in updating the Aadhaar information for people have started using seven new UCL (Update Client Life) machines which were brought this week by the district collectorate to update Aadhaar information. Approximately 70 per cent people reaching the Aadhaar centre want to update their information and so the government planned to procure 50 UCL machines to accelerate the process of Aadhaar updation.

While many are yet to get their Aadhaar card and the government agencies are extending the deadline for mandatory linking of PAN with Aadhaar by three months, government officials are assuring that they are trying to find ways for reducing hassles of people trying to enrol for Aadhaar.

An official from the district collectorate said the machines are being used in ward offices of Dhankawadi, Hadapsar, Tilak Road, Kondhwa Khurd, Ramwadi and Warje. “We are able to update name, date of birth, mobile number, address, gender and some other details of a person using the new machines. The process is slow due to technical problems and we are trying to speed up the process. In future it would take just a few minutes to update Aadhaar information,” added the official.

The officials are sending the information of those people whose fingerprints the machines are unable to recognise to Unique Identification Authority of India.
