PUNE: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has got a response from seven companies, including a Chinese company, to construct the High Mass Capacity Transits Route (HCMTR), which is PMC’s ambitious project estimated to cost Rs 5,192 crore. It is the internal ring road, which will solve traffic problems.
After the 24x7 water supply project, the civic body has prioritised the HCMTR work, for which it has floated a tender. Till date, seven companies, including the Chinese firm have responded to the tender.
PMC Road Department Additional City Engineer Aniruddha Pawaskar said, “We cannot disclose names of the companies at this juncture. We have
extended the tender submission date to May 14. However, a Chinese company has shown interest in the HCMTR project. The remaining six companies are Indian.”
HCMTR will pass through Khadki, Aundh, Shivajinagar, Erandwane, Kothrud, Karve Nagar, Dattawadi, Parvati, Bibvewadi, Wanawadi, Salisbury Park, Hadapsar, Mundhwa, Kalyani Nagar, Yerawada and Kalas areas.
HCMTR has been designed for speedy travel by reducing congestion. It is a six-lane project with centralised Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) of total 37 km in length and 24 m in width. Separate lanes will be made for heavy vehicles and four-wheelers with minimum 50 kmph speed.
For the entire project, the civic body needs 68.03 hectares of land.
At present, they have got 15 hectares of private land through Transfer of Development Rights (TDRs).
Two- and three-wheelers will not be allowed to ply on this route.
There will be nine entry and exit points with 33 ramps. The civic body has estimated a period of three years to complete the project.
