56th organ donation done by ZTCC officials in Pune

PUNE: Family members of a 55-year-old woman who was declared brain dead at Kolhapur donated her lungs, kidneys and liver to give new lease of life to four people. 

This is the 56th organ donation done by Zonal Transplant Coordination Centre (ZTCC) Pune.

Sharing more details, Arti Gokhale, ZTCC co-ordinator said that on Friday, the family of a 55-year-old woman donated her vital organs in Kolhapur.

“This was the 56th organ donation. The patient was a housewife and her family decided to give new lease of life to four other people,” said Gokhale.

She further said that her lungs were sent to Global Hospital in Mumbai via a chartered flight from Kolhapur.

“Both the kidneys and liver were sent by a green corridor. A kidney was sent to Jehangir Hospital in Pune while the liver was sent to Sassoon General Hospital in Pune. The other kidney was sent to Apollo Hospital in Nashik,” said Gokhale.

This is the 56th organ donation done by ZTCC Pune. Sharing details, Arti Gokhale, ZTCC co-ordinator said that on Friday, the family of a 55-year-old woman donated her vital organs in Kolhapur.
