55-yr-old man cheated twice via phishing

Pune: A 56-year-old man who works in a cooperative society was cheated twice by an unidentified person who phished his banking information for online shopping.

The complainant, Sanjay Bendre, stays in Ambegaon Budruk and lodged a complaint at Bharti Vidyapeeth police station. As per  the Bharti Vidyapeeth police, on October 11, last year Sanjay received a call from an unidentified person on his mobile phone who told him that his ATM card has been blocked. Sanjay was then asked to share a One Time Password (OTP) which he received on his mobile phone.

The moment Sanjay shared the OTP, Rs 14,559 was debited from his account, which was used for shopping. Later on May 4, Rs 9,999 was debited from Sanjay’s account, which was also used by fraudsters for online shopping. Police Sub Inspector Ashwini Patil is investigating the case.
