45 vehicles damaged by miscreants

PUNE: In the last two days, 45 vehicles were damaged by miscreants in three separate cases in Warje and Taljai Mata Vasahat in Pune and in Nigdi in Pimpri-Chinchwad.

The first incident took place in Sahyog Nagar in Warje around 10 pm on Friday near Kalubai Temple. A group of seven miscreants entered the residential area armed with sickles and wooden rods. They started abusing people and damaged windscreen of a school van and later damaged four bikes and two autorickshaws.

Assistant Police Inspector RV Shevate, who is investigating the case, said, “Two accused persons have been arrested. The exact motive behind the incident is not clear yet.”

The second incident took place around 2.30 am on Sunday in Taljai Mata Vasahat area. A group of three persons damaged 25 bikes, three autorickshaws and two tempos with metal rods. The local residents said that such was the terror of the accused persons that people did not come out of their homes even after so much of noise. Nobody has been arrested yet, police said. 

In Ajantha Nagar area of Nigdi, 10 vehicles were damaged in the early hours of Sunday by a group of five to six persons. According to Pimpri-Chinchwad police, the group had first robbed Rs 1,600 cash from a man walking on the street. When he tried to stop them, they created ruckus and damaged 10 vehicles including seven bikes. 

Police have detained one person for questioning in the case.
