4 BVDUCOE students get internship at IIT-B

PUNE: Four students of Bharati Vidyapeeth (Deemed to be University) College of Engineering, (BV(DU)COE) Pune have been selected for ‘Research Internship’ at IIT Bombay (IIT-B).

Gaurav Goyal of BTech(Civil), Adarsh Kumar of BTech (Electrical), Sunath Khadikar of BTech(IT)and Shruti Mane of MTech (Civil) will carry out their proposed research work starting from December 2018 to June 2019 at IIT Bombay, Mumbai, said Anand Bhalerao Principal and Dean. They will receive a stipend of Rs 10,000 per month by IIT-B for this internship.

IIT-B Research Internship Award is designed as an educational and professional research experience. These awards are available for specific research projects. Kumar will be working on his project of assessing the impact of electricity access on the socio-economic development in rural areas under the guidance of Prof Anand Rao in Centre for Alternative for Rural Areas (CTARA). This will help us understand the impact of electricity access and the need for the energy-plus approach in policy formulation. Goyal will research on supply chain network design (SCND), one of the most crucial problems of the Supply Chain Management (SCM) under the guidance of Prof Pankaj Dutta in Department of SJM School of Management.  Using an efficient optimization technique, the designed model would be optimised to reduce cost or increase profits of the companies deemed fit.

Mane’s research is on numerical model study to assess efficiency of array of wave energy converters (WECs) located at a site on the West Coast of India under the guidance of Prof Manasa Behera of Dept of Civil Engineering at IIT-B.

Khadikar’s project deals with knowledge of data analysis using SPSS tools and Design of Experiments for cognitive science and psychology. He will be guided by Prof Rashmi Gupta in Department of Humanities and Social Sciences at IIT-B.
