3 relatives of DSK nabbed

Pune: The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Pune police has arrested three relatives of real estate developer Dilip Sakharam Kulkarni (DSK) on Wednesday for fraudulent dealings associated with the DSK fraud case.

The arrested persons were identified as Kedar Vanjape, Sai Vanjape and Dhananjay Pachpor. The police have arrested DSK and his wife Hemanti  Kulkarni who are currently lodged in Yerwada Central Jail.

The couple and other office-bearers of the DSK Group were booked on October 28, 2017, by Pune police’s EOW and an FIR was registered with Shivajinagar police station after some fixed depositors alleged that the group had not repaid their money. The number of complainants reached 4,300 till February 16 this year.

After their interim protection was withdrawn by the Mumbai High Court, a team from EOW nabbed the couple in Delhi on February 17 and brought them here in Pune. Last month Special Judge JT Utpat rejected the bail application of  DS Kulkarni and his wife Hemanti and extended their judicial custody till May 10.

The couple is lodged in Yerwada prison and was produced in court through video conferencing. The prosecution said that the builder’s fraudulent dealings have not only affected his depositors, but also homebuyers, banks and holders of non-convertible debentures floated by his firm.

Recently pictures of DSK and his wife from jail went viral on social media. DCP Sudhir Hiremath said that three accused namely Kedar Vanjape, Sai Vanjape and Dhananjay Pachpore have been arrested in the case of DSK’s depositors scam.

“All three accused have played significant role in the conspiracy of siphoning the public deposits,” added Hiremath
