3 held in ‘Rice Puller’ scam

PUNE: Officials of the Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissionerate have claimed to have busted a gang involved in ‘Rice Puller’ scam. 

As per information shared by Deputy Commissioner of Police Sudhir Hiremath, police officials have arrested three persons -- Siddheshwar Sonkamble (44) a resident of Solapur, Balaji Janate (27) a resident of Nanded, and Amit Kedar (32), a resident of Ahmednagar, in the case. Police officials said that the trio was wanted in the ‘Rice Puller’ scam case in Bengaluru. 

Officials of the Bengaluru police had coordinated with the Pimpri Chinchwad police and had informed them about the involvement of the accused in the scam, who were currently staying in Pimpri Chinchwad. A team led by Police Inspector Shailesh Gaikwad was in search of the accused. Police officials received a tip-off that the accused will be passing from Bhakti Shakti Chowk in Nigdi in a car. 

Accordingly, a team of police officials traced and nabbed the accused. After a brief interrogation, the accused were handed over to the Bengaluru police. Police officials said that the fraudsters posed as experts and tried to sell a rare ‘Rice Puller’ machine with magical powers.
