3 drown in Jadhavwadi dam, 3 saved

Pune: In a tragic incident, three members of a family drowned in the backwaters of Jadhavwadi dam near Talegaon, where they had gone for a picnic on Sunday noon. Three others were saved by the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) personnel who were conducting training nearby.

The deceased persons have been identified as Prashil Adhav (7), Anil Kolse (58) and Pritesh Agale (32). 

According to Talegaon MIDC police station under the Pune rural police jurisdiction, the Gaikwad family from Yelwadi in Khed and their relatives from Ghatkopar in Mumbai had gone to the backwaters at Navlakh Umbre village near Talegaon. While walking on the bank, Kolse lost balance and fell into the water. He tried to hold hands of Dadasaheb Gaikwad and Adhav. 

Along with Kolse, Gaikwad and Prashil also fell into the water.

In order to rescue them, Pritesh Agale, Gaikwad’s wife Sangeeta and daughter Utkarsha jumped into the water to rescue them. 

Some people informed the NDRF team, which managed to take out all the six persons within a few minutes.

They were rushed to a nearby hospital where doctors declared Adhav, Kolse and Agale, all residents of Ghatkopar, dead on arrival.  
A case of accidental death has been registered in this regard.
