2nd merit list of CAP to be released on July 19

PUNE: The second merit list for the regular rounds of admissions for Std XI under the online Centralised Admission Process (CAP), that was scheduled to be declared on Monday, July 16, will now be released on July 19.

The decision has been made as the Bombay High Court has ruled that seats surrendered by the ‘minority colleges’, that are under the reserved, in-house or management quota, cannot be filled through CAP. The department now needs time to implement this change in the software, and hence, the second merit list has been delayed.

The seats under the given categories at such colleges are now being returned to the particular institutions. The minority higher secondary schools or junior colleges need to give admissions under the reserved category (50 per cent), in-house quota (20 per cent) and management quota (5 per cent) at the individual college level itself. Only the remaining vacant seats could be filled under the CAP.

The petition was filed by managements of minority schools and colleges that did not wish to surrender 50 per cent of their seats for CAP.
