24-hr relay run held for MS patients at Magarpatta City

Pune: A 24-hour relay run, a national running event, was held at Magarpatta City on Saturday and Sunday. The aim was to collect funds for Multiple Sclerosis patients (MSPs).

The event was organised by ‘Running Punters’, a group of runners from Pune taking risks to perform their best. Multiple Sclerosis is a long-lasting disease that damages vision, balance, muscle control and other basic functions of the body.

About 3,000 runners, in the age group of 4 to 60 years from across the country participated in the event, promoting fitness. All individual and group runners were given the option to choose their time slots, for whatever distance they want to run. A total of 28 runners including three women ran for 24 hours.

This was the third consecutive year when this running festival was organised under the guidance of race director Shiroz Nambiar. The idea of ‘Running Punters’ was given by Avinash Baokar.
