PUNE: A group of anti-social elements damaged about 20 vehicles near Maruti temple in Vitthalwadi in Akurdi in the wee hours of Saturday. The Pimpri-Chinchwad police acted swiftly and nabbed nine persons within an hour of the incident.
According to police, the miscreants were armed with choppers and sticks.
Based on a complaint by Rupesh Shriram Kalbhor, an FIR was registered with Nigdi Police. Kalbhor was parking his bike when accused Aman Shankar Pujari (21) of Vithalwadi reached there with his accomplices and looted Rs 1,300 cash from him. They also damaged his car and other vehicles.
A team led by API Laxman Sonawane and PSI Ghadge nabbed the nine persons and seized four choppers, three bikes, totally worth Rs 2.1 lakh from their possession.
