2 killed, 5 hurt as car falls into duct in Bhor

Pune: Two persons died and five others were seriously injured after their car fell into a duct between two roads in Shivare on the Pune-Satara highway in the early hours of Tuesday. They were returning home after three days’ holidays in Malwan.

Rajgad police station, under Pune rural police, identified the deceased as Anand Purushottam Saindale (42), a resident of Dhayari, Pune, and his nephew Vedant Nitin Jagtap (21), a resident of Daman. 

According to the police, the accident took place at 2 am, when the driver lost control over the car and it fell into the duct after hitting a barrier near Omkar Hotel in Shivare in Bhor taluka.

Some passersby called an ambulance and rushed them to a nearby hospital.  Anand and Vedant were declared dead on arrival. The injured persons are Anand’s wife Dewakshi, son Aryan and daughter Aarushi and his nephews Siddhant Jagtap and Aniruddha Jagtap. 

The police said Anand worked for a pharmaceutical company, while his wife runs a creche in Pune.  Police Sub-Inspector Mohan Talbar of Rajgad police station said, “Siddhant was driving the car. The bodies have been handed over to the relatives after the autopsy.”
