2 hurt in CNG blast in autorikshaw

Pune: Two persons including a passenger sustained severe injuries after their autorickshaw caught fire following a head-on collision with a jeep in Bibvewadi on Wednesday evening. 

The injured persons have been identified as autorickshaw driver Kishor Gokul Narke (27) of Parvati and passenger Nathu Maruti Kukde (42) of Bhor. The police have detained jeep driver Nilesh Hanumant Bandal (29) of Taljai. 

According to the police, Bandal works as driver with a bank. The incident took place around 3.30 pm near the turn at the divider opposite Kalubai temple, Bibvewadi. After the collision, the CNG cylinder of the autorickshaw exploded.

Narke and Kukde sustained burn injuries. Passsers-by Shivaji Talekar and others rushed them to a nearby hospital.

After getting information, police and fire brigade personnel reached the spot and doused the fire in which the autorickshaw was completely burnt. 

The police said that Narke has sustained about 70 per cent burn injuries. Now, he is undergoing treatment at Sassoon Hospital.
