Pune: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) is ready for Ganesh festival with the construction of tanks near river banks in 15 areas for the immersion of idols to combat river pollution. The tanks have been built in coordination with the ward offices, Solid Waste Management Department and Health Department of PMC, who have collectively worked for the tanks to facilitate the immersion.
All the river banks have been cleaned by the corporation and barriers were constructed to prohibit people from entering the river. There are also life guards at the banks.
