10,000 PMPML buses damaged due to brake fail incidents

Pune: Heavy downpour in the city has badly affected Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) bus services. Due to the rains, the number of brake fail incidents have increased. More than 10,000 buses were damaged in July and August (about 5,000 in each month). The brake fail incidents have increased due to potholes and heavy rainfall.

The highest rainfall was recorded in July and August during the four months of monsoon.

As per data provided by PMPML, around 25,490 buses were damaged in five months from May to September. Brakes and engines were damaged in most of the buses.  PMPML’s Joint Managing Director Ajay Charthankar said, “Due to heavy rains, technical problems are often caused to the bus. Maintenance of the buses is done on time.”
