‘Weather in State to remain dry’

Pune: Between October 1 and October 21, the rainfall in the country has further depleted, India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported an overall of 58 per cent deficiency. Though there was a cyclonic storm ‘Gaja’ in the Bay of Bengal, the rainfall activity has not been much, due to which all the broad regions of the country have reported further rainfall deficiency. 

According to an official statement released by the met department, between October 1 to November 21, central India, which also includes Maharashtra, has received 64 per cent deficient rainfall. Whereas, regions like northwest India reported 28 per cent deficient rainfall and southern peninsula reported 42 per cent rainfall deficiency post southwest monsoon.

In east and northeastern regions of the country, 58 per cent deficiency in rainfall is reported by the met department.

However, the grip of winter across the country is strengthening. On Friday, the lowest minimum temperature recorded was 7 degrees Celcius at Mandla in east Madhya Pradesh. Also, the northeast monsoon has been active over Tamil Nadu. It has been subdued over south interior Karnataka.

Pune Temperature

  • According to the IMD, Pune city recorded night temperature on Friday at 15.4 degrees Celsius.
  • IMD has forecast that the sky will remain clear in the city till November 29 and minimum temperature may go as low as 13 degrees Celsius during the same time.

Maharashtra
In the State, the scenario of rainfall between October 1 to November 21 is further grim. With some rainfall in past one week, Vidarbha is still having a rainfall deficiency at 97 per cent. 
It is followed by the drought-hit regions of the state in Marathwada, which reported 82 per cent rainfall deficiency.
 
In central Maharashtra, the rainfall deficiency is 62 per cent and in Konkan and Goa region, the deficiency is 54 per cent.

In Maharashtra as well, there is a dip in the day as well as night temperature across various cities and towns. 

On Friday, Nagpur reported the lowest minimum temperature in the state at 13 degrees Celsius.
The weather in the State will remain dry till November 28, IMD had forecast.
