‘Research from Ayurveda’ conference in city on Aug 18

PUNE: In a bid to boost research in Ayurveda, the Ayurveda Teachers’ Association has organised a second national conference on ‘Research from Ayurveda’ in Pune on August 18. The conference will be held at Rajiv Gandhi E-Learning School between 9 am and 6 pm.

Union Minister of Ayush Shripad Naik will be present as the chief guest for the inauguration. Pro-Vice chancellor of Maharashtra University of Health Science (MUHS) Mohan Khamgaokar and senior scientist Vijay Bhatkar will also be present. The conference will have panel discussions on various topics in Ayurveda.

President of the association, Rahul Suryanvashi, said, “Last year, we had over 700 participants from Ayurveda teachers’ community. Then our purpose was to bring various teachers and stakeholders from this sector under a single roof. This year, we are planning to expand to students as well. In the second edition, we want to focus on research and its possibilities.”

The sessions will be conducted by various experts from the field including Dr Sudish Kumar from Kerala on ‘research opportunities in Ayurveda’, Dr S Gopakumar will highlight upon ’topics for research in Ayurveda’. Pune-based Dr Supriya Bhalerao will speak about ‘moral issues in research’ in Ayurveda. Other topics will be ‘standardisation of medicines in Ayurveda’, ‘funding for research facilities in Ayurveda’ and many more topics.

Secretary of association, Manoj Chaudhari, said, “Thousands of medical concepts exist in Ayurveda and they must receive medical recognition along with getting acceptance, value and promotion in the society. The conference is a platform to present opinions in Ayurveda along with panel discussions by senior dignitaries.”
