‘India will have to adopt tech to lead in the 21st Century’

PUNE: Union Minister of State for Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises Arjun Ram Meghwal has emphasised on adopting technology to become a leader in the 21st century.

He was speaking at the launch of India’s first Centre of Excellence of Green Mobility set up by Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) at Chakan on Tuesday. On this occasion, ARAI President CV Raman, Vice President RM Petkar, Director Rashmi Urdhwareshe, along with senior deputy directors AA Deshpande, NV Marathe and K Srinivas were also present.

Further, Meghwal said, “Technology will not stop and it will come in all sectors and it will be the work of the technocrats to take it ahead. If India wants to be a leader in the 21st century then the country will have to adopt the technology. Optimum utilisation of technology should be our focus and it should be a part of our research and development and automotive sector, which is advancing in India.”

He said that at the same time technology should not disturb our geographical, economical and population systems and should work in accordance.

ARAI, a pioneer in the research, testing and certifying with more than five decades of service in support of the Indian automotive industry, is poised for another illustrious milestone.

Meghwal remembered former president of India APJ Abdul Kalam who delivered his last lecture on ‘Creating a Livable Planet Earth’ in Shillong. “Considering our next generation, we have to think about what we are going to leave for them. Former President Late APJ Abdul Kalam while delivering his last lecture had stressed on the fact that if the earth is our mother then why are we polluting it instead of cleaning it? The launch of the centre is a tribute to him,” Meghwal said.

In keeping with the National Electric Mobility Mission Plan of Government of India, ARAI has proudly set up India’s first and state-of-the-art Centre of Excellence of Green Mobility at Chakan. The centre will provide support for various comprehensive testing and development of Green Mobility solutions.
