Sakal India Foundation announces research scholarships for 2019

Pune: Sakal India Foundation will award two research fellowships/scholarships for this academic year. 
The fellowship will be known as ‘Oka Research Fellowship’. It consists of two research fellowships that have been instituted by the Foundation in the name of Late Group Captain Damodar Oka and his wife Late Sudha Damodar Oka. 

The fellowship will be awarded to researchers independently engaged or registered for PhD degree with research in Poultry and Health Sciences (cardiac, diabetes or cancer), Biotechnology and extended to life sciences like Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Zoology, Botany and Biochemistry at any colleges, universities and research institutes.

The letter requesting prescribed application form should be sent along with self addressed envelope and a stamp (Rs 10). The letters will be entertained only till January 25. The application form will be immediately sent to the applicants. The duly filled application form along with the research proposal will be accepted by the foundation up to February 4. Those interested can also personally collect the forms from the foundation office during office hours. The completed forms will be reviewed by experts.

If required, the selected candidates will be called for a discussion with the selection committee. A selected applicant will be awarded the scholarship of Rs 40,000 for the first instance in two equal installments, extendable for one more year if committee members agree that there has been satisfactory progress on the research project.

The Late Dr Nanasaheb Parulekar, Founder and Editor of daily newspaper ‘Sakal’ established a charitable foundation in 1959 with a view to offer financial aid to deserving students pursuing higher studies in India and abroad. 3) Research Scholarship 
4) Information and Guidance Center

In 2019, Sakal India Foundation has completed 60 years of fruitful service by offering financial help to the needy, meritorious and deserving students and teachers as well. A review of the last 60 years of service rendered by Sakal India Foundation to the youths not only reflects a sense of satisfaction but also prompts and directs attention to various additional needs of young students and teachers as well.

To overcome the constraint of limited funds, we solicit your humble association with Sakal India Foundation in the following manner. You can associate with the noble cause by making donation which is eligible for concession in Income Tax under 80G of the Income Tax Act or by subscribing to Endowment Fund by offering a lump sum with a stipulation to invest the amount and utilise interest thereon for a specific project which will have Income Tax concession benefit or by contributing annually $200 or equivalent amount in any currency as a sponsor parent under ‘Career Development Scheme’ to support one student. Your philanthropic gesture will prove to be a source of inspiration to fulfill objectives of the Founder of Sakal India Foundation.
