We should follow spiritual leaders: Anna Hazare

Pune: Teachings of spiritual leaders will guide us in the current scenario, in which people are struggling to survive and urbanisation is growing rapidly. We fail to understand that inner peace is more important than outwardly pleasure, said social crusader Anna Hazare.

He was speaking at the 22nd Endowment Lecture Series 2017, which was inaugurated at the MIT World Peace University (MIT-WPU) under the UNESCO's 'Culture of Peace' programme, along with the Sant Dnyaneshwara and Sant Tukaram Endowment Lecture Series Trust on Friday.

This six-day lecture series will continue till November 30.

"Sant Dnyaneshwar and Sant Tukaram inspired me to serve. I decided to dedicate my life to serve people. To sacrifice without worrying about the result and continue to work toward helping the needy should be guiding principles of our life," said Hazare.

Former State assembly speaker Dilip Walse Patil, MIT's Vishwanath Karad, Surest Ghaisas, Rahul Karad and Mangesh Karad were present.

Speaking on the autonomy for educational institutes, Patil said, "An educational institution should be free from restrictions to impart quality education to students. Autonomous educational institutions have excelled in their respective fields. Private institutions have also raised the quality of education these days."
