Kamal Sanap and her son Jayesh were out on an evening walk near a housing society at Wanowrie around 9 pm on May 24. However, their evening stroll quickly turned into an accident when a speeding car hit them and drove off. Both of them are critically injured.

Meena Sanap, a relative, lodged an FIR against the speeding car on Tuesday, May 26. The complaint was lodged at the Wanowrie police station.

Wanowrie police assistant inspector Bhagwan Kamble said the mother and son were out on an evening walk and reached the main gate of the Wanowrie-circle Utopia Housing Society when a speeding car lost control and hit them from behind.

"The victims suffered head injuries. The car driver sped away without reporting the accident to the police," Kamble told TOI.

"The investigation is currently taking place, and we are working on some clues to find the car driver," Inspector Kamble further added.

Sakal Times spoke to Machhindra Divekar from Wanowrie police station who is currently handling the case.

"We have limited information at this moment, but I am looking into the case, we will update as we have more information," Divekar said.
