Pune: 'Let me do my work, I don't want to say anything,' says Ajit Pawar on son Parth's controversy

Pune: Deputy Chief Minister of the state and senior leader of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) Ajit Pawar refused to comment on the controversy surrounding his son Parth Pawar's statement about conducting CBI investigation into Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput's death and subsequent harsh criticism from NCP Chief Sharad Pawar. "Let me do my work. I don't want to say anything to anyone," Ajit Pawar said while refusing to comment on the issue.

Ajit Pawar was on a tour of Baramati taluka and was questioned by media persons on the political controversy over Parth's statement. Ajit Pawar, who is known for this outspoken and aggressive nature, chose to remain silent on the controversial topic. Political circles are abuzz with the alleged 'rebellion' Ajit Pawar might do in the coming days and hence his stand on not commenting on the controversy has yet again surprised everyone.

Parth Pawar had demanded an investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the death case of Sushant Singh Rajput. The state Home Minister Anil Deshmukh, who also is a senior NCP leader, had denied any such investigation by the central agency. The opposition parties led by Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) have made this demand of CBI investigation alleging that the Mumbai police are covering up the case and the real suspects behind Sushant's death are being let off.

Meanwhile, perturbed over Parth's demand for CBI enquiry, Sharad Pawar came down heavily on his grandnephew and said that "Parth is immature. I don't value his opinions and views." Sharad Pawar had also opposed Parth's nomination from the Maval constituency during the assembly elections in the state in 2019. After this stinging criticism, Parth had gone to meet Sharad Pawar but details over what happened in the meeting are not in the public domain yet.

On this background, when Ajit Pawar arrived at Baramati on Sunday for a review meeting, media persons asked for his reaction on the Parth controversy. Ajit Pawar refused to answer the question and headed for his next meeting immediately.
