Gamers assemble, it’s E3 time!

The Electronic Entertainment Expo, popularly known as E3, is an event most video game and tech enthusiasts look forward to eagerly each year. For the announcements pretty much ensure the tech calendar of the Industry for the year ahead.

So what is E3? For those not in the know, E3 is the annual trade fair involving all players in the industry. It is where all companies announce their new games and game-related merchandise such as consoles etc. Traditionally featuring only company personnel, it will host a few thousand gamers this year. So, what can we expect from this year’s E3?

The event will be preceded by an event by Electronic Arts (EA). The gaming giant will not have their yearly E3 briefing. While it is widely speculated that there will be something about a new Star Wars game and the next FIFA, we might get to hear about some surprising reveals, too. How about the next Dragon Age?

Another event making a big splash will be French giant Ubisoft’s Assasin’s Creed. While the movie version may have earned more brickbats than bouquets, the game remains a cash cow. There is wide speculation about a new Assassin’s Creed game based in ancient Egypt. Also, while the announcement for the next Far Cry has already been done, we may get to see some gameplay!

The next attraction is Microsoft. The last E3 saw the company announce ‘Project Scorpio’, While some really monstrous configurations have been leaked, the suspense over the final product is finally likely to be over. Widely touted as the console to rival PC, the console may be the star feature of the expo. Apart from this, there is wide speculation about the revealing of the next Tomb Raider game also. However, don’t expect anything on Halo front.

If Microsoft is there, can its rival Sony be far behind? The Sony show will most likely see reveals of the next ‘The Last of Us’ and the widely anticipated game, ‘Days gone’. Also likely are a host of games compatible with Sony’s PlayStation VR. While VR technology is yet to hit big highs, the past year saw games like Resident Evil, which drew widespread acclaim for its VR play. Expect at least a few game release dates.

Lastly, but not the least, Bethesda is back. The giant with some impressive titles like Dishonored 2 and the latest Doom. The company has released a graphic named ‘Bethesdaland’ featuring some of its classics. The show will most likely be another epic hit. All in all looks like an action-packed week lies ahead for the gamers!
