After it was separated from Andhra Pradesh, the State of Telangana was formally formed as the 29th State of the country. Since then, the Telangana formation day is being celebrated every year on June 2.

The formation day of Telangana is observed every year on June 2 as the day when the State was officially formed. This is a historic day for Telangana which is India's youngest State. The government of India proclaimed it in 2014. Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to Twitter on Tuesday and commended Telangana for the achievement of statehood.

He tweeted "Greetings to the people of Telangana on their Statehood Day. People from this State are excelling in a wide range of sectors. This State is making valuable contributions to the growth trajectory of India. I pray for the progress and prosperity of the people of Telangana."

After it was separated from Andhra Pradesh, the State of Telangana was formally formed as the 29th State of the country. Since then, the Telangana formation day is being celebrated every year on June 2. Today is the sixth anniversary of Telangana.

Every year this day is celebrated by hoisting the national flag, but due to unprecedented situation, the celebration won't be as grand as previous years. People enjoy this day by spending time with their friends and family.

The State also honours its citizens in various fields such as science, art and literature for their exemplary contributions. Still, this event stands cancelled due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Today, the honourable Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao hoisted the national flag at Pragathi Bhavan (his official residence). He was joined by State Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar, Police Director General Mahender Reddy, senior officers, government officials and the ruling TRS leaders.

Last year, on the foundation day, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao paid tribute at the memorial of Telangana martyrs by hoisting the national flag.

In 32 districts throughout the State, low-level celebrations were also conducted with ministers and other public representatives at district headquarters.
