Rhea Chakraborty sent to 14 days of judicial custody in drugs case linked with Sushant's death

Mumbai: Bollywood actress Rhea Chakraborty has been sent to judicial custody for 14 days in drugs case linked with Sushant Singh Rajput's death.

NCB during the proceedings sought 14-day judicial custody of Rhea and was approved by the court. Their remand copy stated that she is an active member of drug syndicate and was procured drugs for consumption. It also stated that she was involved in financial deals. Meanwhile, the magistrate rejected the bail plea filed by Rhea's lawyer Satish Manshinde.

The remand application also said that Rhea's brother Showik Chakraborty was procuring drugs from Kaizen Ibrahim and Abdel Basit Parihar on Rhea’s behest.

The NCB Deputy Director General MA Jain told that the agency NCB will ask for Rhea's judicial custody. He further said that they, however, are against her bail and will oppose it. Talking to mediapersons, he said,  "We will oppose bail to her. We are only seeking judicial custody.  Whatever she told us was sufficient for the arrest. We have arrested her." Rhea is booked under the NDPS sections of 27 A, 21,22, 29 and 28.

Narcotics Control Bureau arrested the actress on Tuesday and was taken for a medical test at Sion Hospital. Her reports came negative for the COVID-19. Later, she produced before a magistrate via video conferencing at the NCB office.

Earlier in the day, Rhea's lawyer Maneshinde in a statement said, “Travesty of justice. 3 central agencies hounding a single woman just because she was in love with a drug addict who was suffering from mental health issues for several yrs & committed suicide due to consumption of illegally administered medicines, drugs."

From three days, Rhea was appearing before the NCB in connection with the ongoing investigation into a possible drugs connection in Sushant Singh Rajput's death.
