PM Narendra Modi addresses CMs about planning for Unlock 2.0

PM Narendra Modi on Wednesday addressed the Chief Ministers through a video conference for the second day to discuss the current state of the country after Unlock 1.0 and said test capacities need to be utilised and expanded further.

The CMs informed him about the conditions in different states and their preparation to handle the rising impact of the virus. They told the PM about the steps taken to improve health infrastructure in the State, the support provided to frontline workers, campaigns organised for social benefits promoting the usage of masks and sanitisers, condition of the containment zones, rate of testing being done, condition of migrant workers, etc.

PM Modi talked about the requirement to curb down rumours regarding possible lockdowns in the future and mentioned that the country is now undergoing phase by phase unlocking. “We need to now think about phase 2 of Unlock and how to minimise all possibilities of harm to our people,” he said. 

He further stressed the requirement to fasten the rate of testing and isolating those who are affected by the virus. He also mentioned about spreading correct and valid information through the helpline services and building a team of young people for running these services. He also said that the reach of Aarogya Setu App needs to be increased. “Jan Bhaagidaari,” is essential in this fight, stated the PM.

He talked about signs of revival in economic ventures after few restrictions were lifted while stating that inflation has been kept under control. He asked the CMs to work on infrastructure and construction-related services. He also asked the CMs to keep themselves informed about the situation regarding the movement of migrant workers in the next month.

He further talked about results of the prolonged lockdown, which were highly positive and helped majorly in controlling the spread of the virus. He also mentioned that the number of cases per lakh of population in India is relatively low in the world.
