Nepal cable operators blocks signals of all Indian news channels, except Doordarshan
Spokesperson of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) spoke about the 'baseless propaganda' by Indian media against the Government of Nepal
Cable television providers of Nepal recently announced their decision of switching off all the Indian news channels in the country, except Doordarshan. Till now, they have not received any official orders related to this matter.
ANI quoted channel operator of Nepal, Dhruba Sharma of Mega Max TV, as saying, "We have turned off the signals of the Indian Channel from this evening."
Soon after Narayan Kaji Shreshta, Deputy Prime Minister and spokesperson of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) spoke about the 'baseless propaganda' by Indian media against the Government of Nepal and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, which should be immediately stopped. The multi-system operators of Nepal took this decision of closing down all the Indian channels.
On Thursday, Deputy Prime Minister, Shreshta took to twitter and expressed his incredulity on the extent to which some Indian media channels have gone to spread misinformation and slander the present government. The decision has been taken amid the India Nepal dispute over the issue of a new map implemented by Nepal government, where they have included some portions of Indian territories.
