NEET to be held on May 5 next year

Pune: The National Testing Agency (NTA), which will conduct medical entrance test for the first time, has announced the dates for National Entrance cum Eligibility Test (NEET). NEET-UG exam for MBBS/BDS to be held on May 5, 2019, while NEET-PG for MD/MS or PG diploma courses is scheduled on January 6, 2019.

The schedule will remain unaltered even if the date of the test is declared a public holiday.

As per the Indian Medical Council Act-1956 and Dentists Act-1948, online applications have been invited for admissions to Medical/Dental Colleges run with the approval of Medical Council of India and dental council of India under the ministry of health and family welfare (MoHFW).

Eligibility criteria for NEET-PG
The candidate is required to complete MBBS degree/provision MBBS pass certificate from a medical college/institute recognised by Indian Medical Council Act. Also, the candidate should have completed one year of internship or are likely to complete the same on or before March 31. 

Whereas, eligibility criteria for NEET-UG is, the upper limit for taking the examination is set to be 25 years old and with the relaxation of 5 years for the candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC category and persons entitled for reservation under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016.

  • Last date for applications for NEET-UG is November 30.
  • Last date for application for NEET-PG was November 22.
