NCB arrests Rhea Chakraborty in drugs probe linked to Sushant Singh Rajput case

Mumbai: Actor Rhea Chakraborty was arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on Tuesday. The NCB on Sunday had summoned the actor to join the drugs probe linked to Sushant Singh Rajput death case. It came after her 24-year-old brother Showik Chakraborty was arrested by the NCB on Saturday. The officials from the agency reached Rhea’s Mumbai house on Sunday to serve the summons. From the past three days, Rhea was questioned by the NCB and was been taken into the custody.

The angle of drug investigation began after WhatsApp chats recovered from Rhea mobile phone revealed an alleged talk about procuring drugs between her and a contact saved as ‘Miranda Sushi’ - believed to be Sushant Singh Rajput's house manager Samuel Miranda, who was also arrested by the Narcotics Bureau.

A total of nine people have been arrested till now by the NCB with some of them being directly linked to the drug probe while two were arrested by it when the investigation was propelled under criminal sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. When the probe in the case began, the agency had caught two persons, Abbas Lakhani and Karan Arora, for alleged drug peddling and officials have claimed that through them they reached Zaid Vilatra and Abdel Basit Parihar who are apparently linked to this case as they were in touch with Miranda.

The NCB launched a drug angle probe in this case after the ED (Enforcement Directorate) shared with it a report succeeding the cloning of two mobiles of Rhea.
