Gyms and yoga centres are set to reopen. Check out the guidelines issued by the government

The Central government has permitted gyms and yoga centres to lift their shutters from Wednesday under the third phase of unlocking the coronavirus lockdown. As per the guidelines declared by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), gymnasiums and yoga centres located in containment zones shall not be allowed to open.

CHECK OUT THE GUIDELINES

  • Face cover or mask is mandatory at all times when present in the premises. During exercising, only a visor may be used as a mask may make breathing difficult.
  • People above 65 years of age, people with co-morbidities, children below age 10, pregnant women not to use gyms.
  • The floor of gym or yoga centre should have space of four metres per person. Equipment should be kept six feet apart.
  • Make specific pathways for entering and exiting the building with proper markings on the walls.
  • It is recommended to utilise Aarogya Setu, COVID-19 tracker app.
  • The temperature setting for air-conditioning and ventilation should be in the range of 24-30 degree Celsius. Fresh air should be given priority
  • Sessions should be staggered with a minimum gap of 15-30 minutes between classes to avoid overlap between members arriving and leaving.
  • Controlling the number of people per group in a fitness class should be based on the size of the room and the nature of the activity.
  • Spas, sauna, steam baths and swimming pools shall remain closed.

Also, if any individual is suspected to be infected, the individual should be kept in a room or area where they are isolated from others. The staff should immediately inform the nearest medical facility or call helpline numbers of the district or the state.

Meanwhile, India crossed the 18-lakh mark on Monday, a day after it went past 17 lakh, with 52,972 new cases reported in a day. With 771 fatalities in the last 24 hours, the number of deaths has inclined to 38,135.
