Group of Delhi teenagers objectifying and dehumanising women over group chats

Internet is a safe place for many users where they come up and talk about their feelings in a comfort zone. However, certain people who misuse the freedom that a faceless media provides us thinking that that horrific practices can stay undercovers. Images of an Instagram group chat named, "Bois locker room" have been surfaced where young boys are talking about gang-raping girls.

Screenshots of the group chat shared by a girl from south Delhi have gone viral all over the internet. The images revealed horrifying gruesome details of the chats which included boys aged 17-18. The girl who shared the screenshots on her Instagram story yesterday started with revealing all the names of the participants on the group chat saying, "The screenshots I'm about to post have very foul and degrading language. But the least I'm about to do right now is shame each participant alongside what they've shared because they deserve it. Because we have no idea how many such groups exist and will continue to exist and function until we break them apart piece by piece"

She then continued to share the screenshots of the chats, which were to say the very least, are sickening to even read. The boys have shared images of girls who are 15 to 16 including one who is just 14 years of age. The screenshots and images went viral within hours of posting the story. While a lot of people over social media came out to support and called out on how such practices heavily adds on to glorifying rape culture, there were quite a few who took the side of the boys saying "It's just a boys locker room chat".

Hours later, the girl who posted the story also revealed images of another group chat that was formed where these boys were found to be making rape threats towards the girls who uncovered their disturbing practices.

Police involvement is currently being sought in the situation and Delhi Police is being urged by the netizens to take some strict action otherwise it would give more power to those young boys who are bashing, objectifying women just for fun.
