DELHI: Current topics like the CAA and economic slowdown were discussed at the Delhi Dialogues 2020, organised by FirstTimeVoter.org, a youth-focused social venture started by Kartikeya Goel.

In the finals round of debates at The Constitution Club of India with top 50 students shortlisted from more than 500 students, Manish Kumar of IMS Law College emerged as the winner.

Ashman Kaur of SGTB Khalsa College was the first runner-up and Vyas Raj of IGNOU was the second runner-up.

On the sidelines of the youth parliament, Goel said, “The idea behind Delhi Dialogues 2020 was to create a large pool of socially and politically conscious people and to discuss issues of collective conscience threadbare.”

Sanjeeva Shivesh, CEO, The Entrepreneurship School, and a mentor of FirstTimeVoter said, “While democracy seemingly begins at the ballot box, it doesn’t stop there. Youth must be prepared to actively engage with the state using modern methods to bring meaningful change. Our youth parliament is an endeavour to carve a new future for the country.”

The youth parliament witnessed see-saw debate on some of the contentious issues like Citizenship Amendment Act 2019 (CAA), Right to the Internet as a fundamental right, Economic issues and full statehood of Delhi.
