Mercedes includes top-end petrol and diesel variants to LWB SUV GLE list

Mercedes-Benz on Tuesday announced that it will now be giving top-end variants in both petrol and diesel to its lineup of GLE-SUV. Both the 400 d 4MATIC LWB and GLE 450 4MATIC LWB (long wheelbase) top-end variants promise to popularize the vehicles in the Indian market all the more.
Both the top-end variants have been powered by BS 6 in-line six-cylinder engines. The petrol variant will have top torque figures of 500 Nm and a maximum power output of 367 hp. Additionally, Mercedes has also brought the EQ to boost technology in the Indian SUV market for the first time. This technology will further add 22hp to the power output of 450 4MATIC. The SUV will reach up to the 100kmph mark in a minimum of 5.7 seconds.
MD and CEO of Mercedes-Benz India, Martin Schwenk said, "The new GLE LWB has already excited the market and has a 3 months waiting period. With the introduction of a petrol model, we expect it to further drive its popularity and cater to the requirements of those customers who waited for a petrol model."
The new diesel variant will take the same amount of time to reach 100kmph and gives 330hp of maximum power and peak torque at 700 Nm. It has already been claimed to be the most powerful diesel engine which Mercedes-Benz has ever produced.
Both the variants have a variety of safety features including seven airbags and a standard Blind Spot Assist and Active Brake Assist.
These vehicles will also have Intelligent Headlight Control Plus, multi-beam LED headlamps with Ultra Range high beam, 20-inch five-twin-spoke alloys, AIRMATC suspension with ADS+, Auto Park Assist 360 degree surround-view camera, 4-Zone Thermotron AC, a widescreen cockpit, etc.
The 400 d 4MATIC LWB is priced at RS. 89.90 lakhs and GLE LWB 450 4MATIC LWB is priced at Rs. 88.80 lakhs.
