Stay fit, inspire others

Stay fit, inspire others

In several films, we have seen Sonu Sood’s fit and toned body, whether he was playing the hero or the villain. Fitness is a way of life and it comes naturally to me, says the actor known for films like Happy New Year, Dabangg, Tutak Tutak Tutiya, Simmba and others. “Fitness was something I grew up with since college days. I got addicted to it and gradually realised how important it is for me,” says the actor.

He believes that one needs to make fitness a part of their life. “You don’t have to think about making rules and regulation or being disciplined. Like we wake up, brush our teeth and the rest of activities follow, fitness too should come naturally to you,” he says.

“Fitness is part and parcel of an actor’s life because we have to look good on screen, stay fit, survive all odds like shooting for long hours and hectic schedules. Having said that, it’s not just actors who need to stay fit. For every single individual, no matter which industry they are part of, fitness can help them to survive,” he adds.

The actor follows a fitness regime on a daily basis. “I do a lot of running and Calisthenics, which is form of exercise consisting of a variety of movements. It is tough but it keeps me light on my feet,” he says.

The 46-year-old actor who works in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil and Kannada film industry, also shares that his fitness regime changes with every project. “Sometimes, I need to get leaner and at times, I have to build muscles. So accordingly, I change my diet, exercise  plans and try to become the part I am about to play as that really helps,” he says.

The actor advises that one cannot achieve a fit body in one month, six months or one year. “It’s something you have to maintain all through your life. I always believe that there are 22 hours in a day while the remaining two hours are dedicated to fitness. No matter which profession you are in or for whom you are working, you have to dedicate those couple of hours to fitness. It could be running or gymming. That is the time you reserve for yourself, which takes care of the remaining 22 hours,” Sonu says.

Sonu believes that one needs to stay fit and inspire others to do the same. “Instead of gifting clothes or some expensive stuff, present your close and loved ones a gym membership. They will also value that gift because it will inspire them to work harder on themselves. That way, we can make a fitter world,” he says before signing off.
