Union Minister Ramdas Athawale proposes boycotting Chinese food!

In the backdrop of the flaring tensions between India and China, Union Minister Ramdas Athawale promoted the idea of boycotting Chinese food and shutting down restaurants that serve Chinese cuisine. He tweeted the same and said, “China is a country that betrays. India should boycott all products from China. Chinese food and the hotels selling it should be closed.”

The past couple of days have been grim for India as the disputes at LAC saw 20 Indian soldiers losing their life. Amid the growing tensions between China and India, the Union Minister tweeted:

In contrary to the current situation, Athawale was seen with Chinese Consul General, Tang Guocai along with Buddhist Monks gathered at Mumbai’s Gate of India, chanting the ‘Corona Go’ anthem. All of them gathered to show solidarity towards China’s fight against the COVID-19 war.

The violent face-off between India and China saw 20 Indian soldiers killed, one of them being a colonel rank officer. India now strongly condemn all Chinese products and requested its citizens to promote ‘vocal for local’. 

According to reports, Indian Railways are planning to boycott Chinese engineering contract; meanwhile, the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has sent orders to Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) to discard Chinese equipment while device upgradation and has advised other private telecommunications companies to boycott Chinese gears and promote Indian manufacturers.
