Uddhav Thackeray hints that Shiv Sena wants the CM’s post

MUMBAI: Shiv Sena President Uddhav Thackeray on Thursday demanded that now is the time to implement the 50:50 power agreement that was made during his meeting with BJP National President and Union Home Minister Amit Shah earlier this year.

This formula for the post of the chief minister of the State was decided during the Lok Sabha elections with Amit Shah.

Thackeray was speaking with the reporters in Mumbai after the counting of votes for the Assembly polls was underway and the trend was clear. As trends began and the leads indicated that the Sena was heading for big numbers, the party indicated that it wanted a turn at the chief minister’s post.

While talking to reporters, the Sena chief said that the results are an eye-opener for all political parties.

“The voters have shown that they want Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s desire for a good state. The voters kept democracy alive. Hence, my thanks to them,” he said.

“We have the mandate to form a government, however, we have to work with responsibility. We will decide transparently and give a good government in the State,” he added.

“We will have a meeting with our leaders and will decide about the policy. I am not hungry for power, so won’t act differently,” he said. Finally, he suggested to Opposition leaders that in the last five years, they were asleep, but now they should not sleep for the next five years.

“Be cautious and guide us. It will reduce the load on us,” he added.
