There is a breakdown of law and order in State: Chavan

MUMBAI: State Congress Chief Ashok Chavan has countered Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis’ claim that the State’s growth is on a high in last four years.

Chavan said that the government had made tall and false promises to come to power and after getting power, they could not fulfill any single promise made by them. “The chief minister is claiming that the State’s fiscal health is good and the revenue is almost Rs 2,000 crore surplus, but actually, the State has a debt of almost Rs 5 lakh crore. The government says they have no money for drought alleviation measures in Marathwada, but then how do they have enough money to give fancy press interviews at 5-star hotels in Mumbai to celebrate 4 years of their government?,” he asked.

Chavan further said that there is a breakdown of law and order in the State. Organisations like the Sanatan Sanstha have been found to stock bombs and ammunition. Why did they make those bombs? Is it to create Hindu-Muslim divide across India?

“If BJP brings up the Ram Temple issue, the people should come to know that the elections are near. They should be ashamed of manipulating the religious beliefs of people,” he added.

While commenting on Jalyukt Shivar, he said that the live stock in the project is about 27 per cent in October and the people are angry over this. “The government is incapable of managing the water resources of the State,” he said.

“The judiciary has decided on how water should be distributed in the State. I am thankful to the courts for their wisdom. But this government is not taking action on equitable sharing of water between the regions in the state,” he added.

Former chief minister Prithviraj Chavan said that the government has failed on all fronts. “There is no proper management in the government and they pushing the State to a disaster,” he said.
