State releases funds for farmers

PUNE: The State Government finally issued an order to release the amount of Rs 2,059.65 crore as relief amount for the loss incurred by the farmers due to the extended heavy rainfall. 

Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari recently announced relief of Rs 8,000 per hectare up to two hectares for agricultural kharif crops and Rs 18,000 per hectare up to two hectares for horticulture/ perennial crops. 

The extended rainfall caused havoc to the crops in 325 talukas of 34 districts of the State. 

As per the Government Resolution (GR) dated November 19, in a meeting held on November 18, it was decided that the total amount of Rs 2,059.65 crore will be released in the first phase.

Accordingly, the relief amount for the loss incurred by the farmers due to rainfall will be distributed in the Konkan, Nashik, Pune, Aurangabad, Amravati and Nagpur divisions of the State. 

The relief amount will be allocated to the divisional commissioner’s office through the Budget Estimation, Allocation and Monitoring System (BEAMS) online computerised system. 

After the distribution of the relief amount, the district collector has to ensure that the list of farmers who received the disbursed amount should be uploaded on the district collector’s official website to bring in transparency.
