Sharad Pawar: Need to ensure increase in COVID-19 tests

Pune: Following the guidelines of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), NCP President Sharad Pawar on Friday directed the administration to increase the number of coronavirus tests in the district. He also said that necessary action should be taken to ensure that private hospitals do not charge excessive fees for the treatment of such COVID-19 cases.

The Corona Outbreak Review Meeting was held at the Pune Divisional Commissioner’s Office on Friday in the presence of NCP supremo and MP Sharad Pawar. At that time, he made some suggestions regarding the corona measures.

Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, Home Minister Anil Deshmukh, Public Health Minister Rajesh Tope, Mayor Murlidhar Mohol, MP Girish Bapat, MP Shrirang Barne, MP Adv Vandana Chavan, MP Dr Amol Kolhe and MLAs from the city and all senior officials of the district were present in the meeting.

Pawar said, “In order to curb corona pandemic, it is necessary to conduct maximum tests and timely treatment of the affected patients. In such cases, it is necessary to regularly review and improve the restricted area declared to prevent corona transmission in the city. It has also come to my notice that many citizens are being charged exorbitant fees while being admitted to private hospitals for treatment. In such a case, it is necessary to take necessary action to prevent this unreasonable charge.”
