PUNE: Thundery nights along with intense rainfall continued to lash the city on Thursday as well. Pune witnessed hot days followed by cloudy evening. Between Wednesday night and Thursday morning, Pune recorded 21.3 mm rain in Shivajinagar, 1.8 mm in Pashan and 44 mm in Lohegaon. On Thursday, Pune recorded 30.20C whereas night temperature was 20.40C.
For the State, IMD has predicted that on October 11, isolated places in Konkan and Goa and central Maharashtra will experience heavy rainfall. Also, in these areas along with Marathwada, rainfall along with thunderstorm and lightning is predicted for October 11.
On Thursday, IMD noted that the southwest monsoon has been active over Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Gangetic West Bengal, Himachal Pradesh, Konkan and Goa, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema and north interior Karnataka. It has been subdued over Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat region, Marathwada, Vidarbha and Tamil Nadu.
Further withdrawal of monsoon from northwest India
As on Thursday, southwest monsoon has further withdrawn from most parts of Punjab, entire Haryana including Chandigarh, Delhi, some parts of Uttarakhand, some parts of Uttar Pradesh, West Madhya Pradesh, East Rajasthan and most parts of West Rajasthan. As per IMD, the withdrawal line of monsoon now passes through Gurdaspur, Chandigarh, Haridwar, Bahraich, Sultanpur, Orai, and Jalore. Conditions are becoming favourable for further withdrawal from remaining parts of northwest India, some parts of east and some more parts of Central India till October 11.
