Pune: Maharashtra Teacher Eligibility Test results announced

Pune: The Maharashtra State Council of Examination declared the results for the Maharashtra Teacher Eligibility Test on Wednesday. Around 16,592 candidates have cleared the exam out of the total 3.43 lakh candidates who had appeared for the examination. Candidates were kept on waiting by the council which had delayed the declaration of results due to several errors reported from the question papers.

The Maharashtra Teacher Eligibility Test was conducted on January 19 this year. This test has been conducted since 2013. Except in 2016, the test has been conducted every year since it started. A total of 3,42,242 candidates had registered themselves for the TET exam that took place in January 2020. The examination was conducted at 1,044 exam centres across the state. There were a lot of mistakes in the question papers due to which the council was criticised heavily. A way was worked out on this front, and finally, the results were declared. 

About 1, 88, 688candidates had appeared for Paper 1 (Class 1 to 5) of which 10,487 have qualified. For Paper 2 (Class 6 to 8), about 1, 54, 596 candidates had appeared out of which 6,105 have qualified. A total of 86,298 candidates from the state have qualified in six examinations conducted by the council so far.

In 2016, Paper 1 was leaked and declared cancelled. Lakhs of candidates who had appeared for the test at different examination centres across the state had to suffer due to this decision. The question paper had surfaced on Whatsapp in Pune, and the list of answers was seen on Whatsapp in Beed. Another candidate was caught with a video of question and answers in Dhule within the first hour of the start of the examination.
