PM Modi to inaugurate Magnetic Maharashtra

MUMBAI: After Make in Maharashtra, now the State government is going to organise Magnetic Maharashtra, where the government is hoping to sign Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for investment worth Rs 10 lakh crore in the three-day summit. The event will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday. Over 100 delegates including ministers from countries like Canada and Australia will attend. 

Industry Minister Subhash Desai announced the event on Thursday. “Magnetic Maharashtra: Convergence 2018 is the perfect platform to recognise individuals and corporates who have contributed towards the overall economic development of the state,” he said.

“The state’s first Global Investment Summit for three days will be at the MMRDA grounds in Mumbai from Sunday, February 18 to February 20,” Desai added.  “Magnetic Maharashtra will provide an opportunity to showcase Maharashtra’s contribution to the country’s overall development and position it as a state for ‘Ease of Doing Business’. We are eyeing Rs 10 lakh crore of investment pacts with domestic and global investors at the summit and plan to sign approximately 4,500 MoUs to make this summit a true success, ” said Desai.  “The Export and IT awards will be awarded to boost the performance and encourage them to perform better,” he said.

The State government will be awarding the State Industrial Excellence Awards at the event to 47 people from different sectors for meritorious performance. The list will be drawn from the state’s top exporters and companies in the Information Technology space.
